SPONSOR A COACHING SESSION

Coaching isn't accessible to everyone.

This offer lets you gift a session to a woman from an underrepresented or economically disadvantaged background, either from my pre-vetted waiting list or someone you've already identified.

How it works

1. Book a session here, selecting any available time on 8 March (International Women's Day). Enter your own name and contact details for your invoice/receipt.

2. In the notes field, let me know:

-  Whether to gift the session to the next person on my waiting list, OR

- The name/email of someone specific you'd like to sponsor (or I can send the booking link to you to pass on)

3. I'll handle the rest — cancel your placeholder booking, and send the recipient a link to book their session.

The recipient won't know who you are unless you'd like me to share your details.

Please note: this session is for gifting only.

CAN YOU HELP LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD?

You can gift a Coaching Session for €180 per hour.

Payment is made online, via Stripe. You can pay with all major credit cards.
It is also possible to pay via direct debit — please contact me for information about this.

I have a brilliant colleague who could benefit so much from some proper mentoring, beyond what I can offer her. I see others around her getting support from professional coaching, but she simply can’t afford it, and it just feels like this further compounds the inequality and obstacles she already faces.

I’ve benefited enormously from coaching from Claire over the years, and I wanted to gift a session with her to my colleague as a way of levelling the playing field a little. Using my financial privilege felt like the most useful thing I could do to help her. I’m not a professional coach, I know my limits, and I’d rather pay for someone who actually knows what they’re doing to properly support my colleague, than me offer them well-meaning but amateur advice.

This is why I encouraged Claire to offer sponsored coaching sessions. It is one small way I could support good people doing good work.

FAQs

Want to sponsor more than one session? Wonderful! Email me at claire@clairemahon.com or visit my booking page to purchase a package, following the same steps above.

Do I offer pro bono or discounted coaching other than through this sponsorship program? Yes, about 20% of my coaching time is pro bono or discounted to below-cost. Over the last 5 years, I've provided over 350 hours of unpaid and pro bono formal coaching sessions. These sponsored sessions provide additional opportunities for me to offer more sessions to those in need in an empowering way, while also honouring my healthy boundaries and the need to run a financially sustainable business.

How to get on the list to be allocated a sponsored coaching spot? If you are someone who wants and needs coaching but can't afford it, and you're from an underrepresented group or disadvantaged background, please email me at claire@clairemahon.com with the subject line "Request for coaching sponsorship" and a brief introduction.

How do I know this sponsored session is really going to be used in the way it is intended? I'd be happy to send you anonymised profiles of those on the wait list, so you can see the kinds of clients you'd be helping through this program. If all parties consent, I can share your contact details so that you can confirm with recipients that they have received their coaching.

If you have any other questions or want to know more, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I have a folder in my inbox full of emails from younger women in my network asking for career advice. Some of them have been sitting there for months. I genuinely want to help, but between work and life I just don’t have the capacity to give them the thoughtful response they deserve. And honestly, I’m not an expert. I can only tell them what my own experience has been, for what it’s worth. When I have similar questions, I book a call with an expert!

I’ve worked with Claire at various points in my career and the coaching has been genuinely transformative for me. And for a long time I’ve been sitting with a growing discomfort about how unequal access to this kind of support really is. I know I come from a position of privilege — I’m white, western-educated, in a reasonably well-paid job — but not everyone has this head-start, let alone access to further help through coaching.

Sponsoring some sessions felt like the answer to both problems. It took me less than five minutes to book, and I’m excited to gift sessions to a couple of those enthusiastic mentees whose emails have been sitting in my inbox unanswered for far too long.

Your Coach

Claire Mahon is an internationally award-winning human rights advocate and the founder of the Global Human Rights Group. She has worked as an international lawyer and advisor to world leaders including Presidents and heads of United Nations agencies, and has run a global consulting practice for over 20 years, offering advocacy, policy and legal advice to UN agencies, civil society, governments, businesses and international experts.

Since 2012 she has also run a coaching practice that helps global affairs practitioners, human rights advocates, international lawyers, humanitarians, international development professionals, and other global leaders, to change the world.

I work with those who work to change the world, helping them to deepen their careers and leadership in global affairs.

And I work with those who seek to change their worlds, to develop clarity, connection, and confidence.

One of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned is that in order to change the world we often need to change our worlds — in particular the way that we lead and manage our own lives and relationships. The work I’ve done with some of my own mentors, such as Randi Buckley (whose work on Healthy Boundaries for Kind People is life changing) and Tara Mohr (who does exceptional work on helping women learn about Playing Big) informs the work I do with clients in nurturing and developing their best selves.

The people I work with are those who unashamedly want to create a better world, for themselves and for others, a world where human rights and human dignity are respected, protected, and fulfilled.

Together, we figure out how to do this, and what information and resources are needed, whether that’s on a global scale or in their own personal lives.
